Spring is arguably the best time for fishing in Ontario, so the chances to catch ravenous game fish as they prepare to spawn will be ample. You’ve decided to book an all-inclusive stay, so your only concern should be waking up and deciding which lures to use.
Drop your luggage off at the cabin, walk out to the elevated deck, and remind yourself why you‘re here. There are many opportunities for fishing in Ontario, but you are now vindicated as the final moments of daylight fade behind the tree line surrounding the bay. Be ready to catch just about any species you target and realize there is a good chance that feat will come to fruition before lunch tomorrow. You’ll look at the horizon with a smile on your face and think, “Man, I cannot wait to get out there.”
Your Cabin
Now make your way back to the cottage for your tackle box. Your kitchen is fully furnished, including an oven, fridge and freezer combo, microwave, and coffeemaker. Running water, toilet, electric hot water tanks, and baseboard heating will assure your comfort. If you want to eat outside, there is a picnic table, charcoal grill, and a campfire pit. This isn’t exactly roughing it.
Your Lodge
Here we will provide you with a Wi-Fi login and password and information about the surrounding area. We will also help you choose a homegrown, professional fishing guide. Cooked and served food is included in your meal plan with the option to have drinks, salad, and dessert inside (we suggest a reservation). A communal dining area, tuck shop, and game room with a pool table are also a staple, along with books and DVDs for a rainy day. There are three daily rooms available in case your friends from Toronto show up, and the beach has several kayaks and boats for rent and borrow as well.
Your River
You decide you’d like to try casting off the dock tonight before meeting with your guide in the morning. The French River offers some of the most versatile fishing in Ontario. This world-class fishery affords an opportunity at a personal best for many species, including trophy game fish like musky, pike, pickerel, and walleye. The casual anglers in your party will find amusement casting worms and bobbers for other abundant species like bluegill, crappie, and perch. Your bounty can be scaled in the cleaning hut and stored in one of our freezers. The live bait we provide gives you many options to entice your prey.
